Mr. Ian Denison, the Global Coordinator of the World Book Capital Programme is in Accra, Ghana to assess the City's readiness to host the UNESCO World Book Capital, 2023 title. The year-long programme commences on the 23ʳᡈ April 2023 to 22ⁿᡈ April 2024.

Mr. Denison paid courtesy calls on Mr. Abdourahamane Diallo (The Country Director, UNESCO Ghana), Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, (The Minister for Education), Hon. Elizabeth Naa Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey (The Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly), anda Mr. Charles Abani (The UN Resident Coordinator).

During the courtesy calls, Mr. Denison reiterated the fact that Accra won the World Book Capital, 2023 title due to its strong focus on young people and their potential to contribute to the culture and wealth of Ghana. He has therefore urged Accra to continue to focus on this vision during the implementation of programmes and activities during the title year.

In attendance were the Ms. Ernesticia Lartey Asuinura (Executive Director, GBDC and the Convenor of the Accra World Book Capital (AWBC), 2023 Management Committee) , Mrs Catherine Appiah-Pinkrah (Director, General Administration, MoE), Ama Serwah Nerquaye-Tetteh (Mrs) (Secretary-General of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO) , Dr Eric Nkansah (Director-General, GES), Directors from the Ministry of Education and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Richie-Mike Wellington of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO and the Members of the Accra World Book Capital, 2023 Management Committee.
