Perbi Cubs, an organization that promotes digital reading, and a partner of the Accra World Book Capital, 2023 has, today, May 11, 2023 launched ๐˜’๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜ท๐˜ข๐˜ญ. The term or word ๐˜’๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜ท๐˜ข๐˜ญ is inspired by the Ga word โ€˜Kaneโ€™ which means โ€˜readโ€™ and the English word โ€˜Carnivalโ€™. Kaneval is a year-long programme which promises lots of reading for fun and other educational activities. The launch had in attendance representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Accra World Book Capital, 2023 Secretariat, and UNESCO-Ghana. There were also publishers, organisations that promote reading, heads of schools, the media, influencers, and schools within Dansoman and its environs present.

The Ghana Book Development Council (GBDC) was established in 1975 as an Agency under the Ministry of Education. The objective of the Council is to ensure the development, publication, and distribution of textbooks and other reading materials in Ghana to foster national development.
