UNESCO-IBE visits the Ghana Book Development Council

On 24th May 2023, a 3-member delegation from the UNESCO International Bureau of Education (UNESCO-IBE) led by Ms. Simona Popa paid a courtesy call on Ms. Ernesticia Lartey Asuinura, the Executive Director of Ghana Book Development Council, to discuss opportunities for collaborations between the two institutions. The discussions also centred on how both parties could collaborate to implement programmes of common interest as part of the Accra World Book Capital, 2023 celebration. In attendance were representatives of UNESCO Ghana and Ghana Book Development Council.

The Ghana Book Development Council (GBDC) was established in 1975 as an Agency under the Ministry of Education. The objective of the Council is to ensure the development, publication, and distribution of textbooks and other reading materials in Ghana to foster national development.
